Bummer

Yep, that is bacon!
Adding a little Flare!
Our eager anticipation of selling our home and starting a new chapter before Christmas came to a halt today.  The contract for our home fell through today.  It is disappointing.  On the bright side, I got to decorate our home one last time for Christmas.  The stockings are hung.  The ornaments on the tree, including our new additions from our family exchange.  And the smell of Christmas is in the air with the candles lit.  We will put our place on the market again at the start of the new year.

Week 17

The first movements of Baby Smith were felt this week!  It is completely true, it is a feeling you have never felt before.  Some describe the feeling as a tickle or a flutter.  My experience is the first movements felt like little bubbles popping.  Chris and I happened to be having a date night. We indulged in a dinner and a movie.  We’re enjoying our moments of just us before we welcome our newest addition!  We were in the middle of watching Catching Fire when all of a sudden I felt three little pops.  At first I thought, that is a strange feeling, and then I realized it must have been the baby.  A couple days later it was confirmed when I felt the same pops again.

Week 16

I went in for my 16 week appointment.  The past few weeks have been nice because my nausea has subsided and I am not feeling as exhausted.  However, with these symptoms gone and the fact I haven’t really had any new ones, sometimes my mind begins to wonder if everything is okay.  At the appointment I heard the little heartbeat again, a strong 148 beats per minute.   It was reassuring that everything was progressing just the way it should!  With Thanksgiving tomorrow we definitely have something (or someone) to be thankful for.

Home for Sale

We did it, we put our home on the market!  With all the excitement of Baby Smith due to arrive in May we have been eagerly talking about the future.  With this in mind, we decided selling our home was in the plans.  We had overwhelming interest in our place.  We received two official offers after only 2 days on the market.  We are currently under contract with a closing date of December 20th.  We could be in our new home before Christmas!

New Beginnings

Chris has begun a new venture in the tire industry.  He started a new job with Les Schwab tires this week.  He is tired, but we are both excited for him to have full time work again.  The roofing business was just too sporadic, especially with a little one on the way.  With his new job we can start saving up and hopefully make it possible for me to stay home once the baby arrives.  This new job also allows us to continue to build Smith Syndicate with a more consistent schedule.

We made the big announcement this week to extended family, friends and co-workers!

This is what I sent my co-workers...

I hope everyone had a relaxing break!  I wanted to pass on some good news, Chris and I are expecting a little Smith to arrive around May 9th!  We are super excited for this upcoming new adventure of becoming parents.

Our announcement also became Facebook official with this photo:

We are overjoyed with all the well wishes and congratulations.  Thanks!

Week 10

My nausea has started to subside, which is more than welcoming.  It is hard to hide a big secret, but also be feeling ill at the same time.  At times it felt like if I wasn't eating or didn't have something in my mouth I was going to vomit everywhere (too much?).  The best remedies have seemed to be sour candy and wintergreen mints.  My friend, Jessica (I gave myself permission to spill the beans to her before everyone else because she lives in Ft. Collins.  Plus, she shared her news with me before anyone else.), was so nice and sent me a little care package.  Inside, I was blessed with morning sickness tea (which should actually be called all day sickness tea), pregnancy sour candies, and mint lip balm.  All were more than welcoming remedies for the nausea I have been experiencing.
