August 2016

August has come to an end with hot summer nights leaving and cool fall nights blowing in. We spent August getting into a new routine.  I did not return to work, although I am still doing bits and pieces of work here and there.

Owen 9 months

Owen is 9 months!  At his doctor appointment I had the a reality check that in just 3 short months he would be 1! I find Owen interesting,  it is as if he knows he has a month birthday coming up and he hurries to start doing something new right before so that I can say he does it.  For example, he didn't start full on crawling until about 2 days before his 9 month birthday.  It was the same for getting his first tooth.  He waited until just a fews days before his 8 month birthday.  Looking forward to what the next month has in store!

9 month milestones
  • full on crawler
  • pulling himself up on everything
  • walking along walls and furniture
  • unfortunately, starting waking up in the middle of the night again
  • can say dada dada dada dada dada
  • eating lots of finger foods
  • when standing will rock back and forth to music

July 2016

What a hot month! We spent a lot of time seeing friends and attempting to spend time outdoors.  I have to admit it is a bit of a challenge when one kid wants someone to play with and the other just wants to crawl and put everything in their mouth.  I tried to plan excursions where I knew someone would be there to help or I could confine the kids into a smaller area.  The library is one of our favorite places!  It is super kid friendly and has AC!  I am ready for some cooler weather!

Eva

  • can use the potty like a big girl (most of the time)
  • spoke her first complete sentence "This is MY firetruck."
  • starting use the word "I" instead of always saying "Eva"
  • started having more meltdowns when she doesn't get what she wants ..."But, I really want it" and "I don't want to" have become a couple of her favorite phrases

Owen
  • mastering pulling himself up (loves to stand in his crib)
  • can now get into sitting position from crawling
  • making more attempts to crawl for real not just army crawl
  • officially has 2 teeth coming in
  • eating more and more

Owen 8 months

Owen is growing like a weed.  He has mastered the army crawl with a few attempts at the real thing.  I think he realizes he can get from one place to another a lot quicker in the army crawl!  Right before his 8 month birthday he got his first tooth and let me tell you this was no bueno!  On top of being super fussy (understandably so) he also projectile vomited all over Nana one night and me a couple nights later.  It is most likely due to all the extra saliva he swallowed while cutting his first tooth.  On the bright side he still gives the best giggles.  He jut loves to climb all over mommy, daddy, and Eva.   His favorite things is to try and pull our hair or just grab our faces.

Owen's 8 month milestones:

  • still army crawling like a champ (has attempted to crawl for real, but decides it's not worth it)
  • got his first tooth
  • does not like to stay still
  • pulling himself up on everything
  • everything instantly goes in his mouth
  • loves to eat and typically makes a huge mess
  • scrunches up his nose and breaths in and out...it's just the silliest!

June 2016

Here today, gone tomorrow!  Eva and Owen have really started to have fun with each other.  To the point where bed time/nap time can be a little tricky because Eva will play with Owen through the crib.  She will bring him toys and make silly faces.  He just giggles and giggles.  Even though it is a bit frustrating since it's time to sleep, it is super cute.

June Highlights:

  • Eva started her refusal to take naps, but will pass out in the car in 2.5 seconds
  • Owen is a mover and a groover
  • All the infant toys got put away
  • Eva and Owen started playing together more
