Owen 4 months

Look who's four months old!

Owen's 4 month milestones

  • talks up a storm
  • will give a little giggle now and again
  • doesn't like to take naps
  • loves to sit up (with help)
  • at times tries to roll from his back to his belly (I blame his big head for giving him troubles)
  • loves to drool
  • loves to suck/chew on two of his fingers at a time
  • likes to grab for toys hanging on his play-mat and try to stuff them in his mouth

February 2016

Another month has come and gone...

Owen spent the first part of the month on oxygen due to RSV.  Thankfully, we only had to spend one night in the hospital and then he was on oxygen for 2 more weeks.  He has continued to grow and become such a talkative little man.  He just loves to smile and chat the day away!

Eva is quite the big girl!  She moved into her big girl bed, sits facing forward in her car seat, and is on her way to being potty trained.  I can't believe she will be two in May!  Her hair has a mind of its own and we're never sure what kind of hair day she will have.  She too is talking up a storm, starting to put two and three words together at a time.  She loves to talk about things that happened to her earlier in the day or even a couple weeks ago!

Owen 3 months

Owen is getting so big! He is 3 months old. The past few weeks weren't very much fun, we spent a night in the hospital due to low oxygen levels and then Owen spent 2 weeks on oxygen.  He was one happy boy when that was over!

Owen's 3 month milestones

  • loves to sit up (with help of course)
  • can hold his head up for quite some time during tummy time
  • loves to drool and eat his hands
  • survived his first horrible cold (RSV)

January 2016

I was not very good at keeping up with weekly posts/photos of Eva and Owen.  So, instead I am going to try and reflect and document by the month.  January 2016 was filled with lots of family and fun!

We went on a family date to the Stock Show
Eva enjoyed Jump Street for her friend Blake's 2nd birthday
Chris celebrated his 38th birthday
Chris and I celebrated 4 years of marriage and 9 years together
Owen turned 2 months old

January ended with sickness...Owen has RSV.  He is doing well considering how nasty RSV can get. Hopefully we are past the worst of it and February will be filled with health!

Owen 2 months

Oh my, Owen is already 2 months old.  Time goes by WAY faster with your second child, but I still want to capture the same milestones I did with Eva.

Owen's milestones
  • can give the biggest smiles
  • is awake for longer amounts of time
  • is a momma's boy
  • moves his head from side to side
  • loves tummy time (he is actually starting to lift his head instead of just lying there)
  • loves his sister (even-though she can be a bit rough at times)
    This is real life!

Owen's Birth Story Part Three

So, the last and final phase had begun!  At any moment we would have the newest member join our family!  Well, that is until he proceeded to be a little tough to push out.  With each push the doctor was certain it would be the last and yet it wasn't.  I knew this baby was bigger than Eva, I had felt it for a long time.  My stretch marks were worse, my belly was bigger, and I felt more uncomfortable than before.  The doctors and nurses were so kind as I was yelling "His head is too big!"  they simply responded, "No it's not it is just the right size."  Well, after quite a few more pushes he was finally here! And yes, his head was big...in fact he was big! Weighing in at 8 lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long.

Although the doctors and nurses were quite kind during labor, Owen was in fact a big boy.  He actually suffered some birthing trauma and has two significant sized hematomas.  The doctors reassure me they look worse than they really are.  But, the fact is he won't have a normal looking head for quite sometime.  Hematomas can take up to three months to heal!

Even though I had false alarms and things were a bit frustrating at the end of this pregnancy I am quite happy with everything.  We have a happy, healthy baby boy.  We are quite blessed that none of the pregnancy scares we had throughout the past 39 weeks turned into real issues.
