(4/52)

Eva,
The world is your oyster.  Each new person, place, sound, or thing catches your attention.  You stare in wonder at new things and then eagerly crawl or maneuver your way to try and get what catches your eye. My hope is you continue to be engrossed in the world and your surroundings and do what you can with what you notice to make the world a better place.

no more gummy smile

Today I had one of those mom moments where we say, please stop growing.  Eva has her first tooth coming in and I had a realization that her cute gummy smile will eventually be no more.  Now, I know she will still light up a room with her beautiful smile, but it is saying goodbye to something we have become so accustomed to that is a bit sad.  I can vividly remember when she was just a few days old thinking how strange it was to have no teeth.  I realize this is ridiculous, but none the less my thoughts.  Over the past eight months we have randomly blamed a bad day on the possibility of teething.  Clearly, we have been wrong many many times.  But, alas the time had finally come! And to my surprise it has been nothing I expected.  I expected super fussy, tons of drool, and her wanting to gnaw on everything (well, I guess she does gnaw on everything).  Other than being a bit more clingy on Saturday with swollen gums she hasn't caused too much of a fuss (minus waking up crying in the middle of the night, but this isn't out of the ordinary).  Today, I confirmed the long awaited hypothesis of teething when I could feel the first of a tooth's sharp edges poking through.  Once the tooth is finally in I will capture its beauty.  Until then, enjoy some gummy smiles!

(3/52)

Eva, you just love Sable.  You scream with delight each every morning when you see her and then eagerly crawl to give her big hugs.

eight months

Wow, Eva is 3/4 to being a year old!  This past month has gone by fast, faster than any others.  Eva has learned so much.  She is an official crawler!  She loves to do some light reading (and by light reading, I mean crawling over to the book shelf and taking every book off the shelf)!  She also learned how to pull herself up.  She likes to greet us in her crib standing up after a nap. I am trying to soak up every moment I can because I know she will be walking before I know it!

Eva's Milestones

  • crawling
  • pulling herself up
  • getting better at getting down once pulled up
  • slept through the night twice (not in a row, but it is a start)
  • tried some new foods and is quite the eater
  • best friends with Sable (that cat doesn't stand a chance)
  • better at sitting and reading a book, likes to turn the pages back and forth
Marlena and Chris' Milestones
  • learning what we missed when attempting to baby proof our home
  • becoming fast reactors of keeping Eva out of trouble

Eva, you have the most infectious smile.  I just can't help melting into a pile of mush and giving you lots of kisses when you smile your big smile.

(1/52) A portrait a week for a year

Over the past couple years I have so enjoyed reading my friends blogs and watching their kids grow in the blink of an eye.  These same friends have been posting pictures of their little ones each week over the course of a year.  This documentation is amazing and provides a little snap shot of their little ones captured for a lifetime.  Since I have enjoyed their project I have decided to join in.  So, here it is, A portrait a week for a year...1 of 52.

Eva Joyce, you have started the year off with a bang!  In nothing short of amazing you have started to pull yourself up to standing position!  You are so strong and determined.  I look forward to the year ahead.  May 2015 be an amazing year of learning and growing.  Love you bunches!
