This past weekend we celebrated Eva's first birthday with family and friends.  It was a smash...in more ways than one!

One Year Old

Eva has now entered the world of toddler!  Looking back at the past 12 months Eva has grown and learned so much.  Eva, wishing you the happiest of second years!  Love you.

Eva's 12 month milestones

• full on walker
• says kitty, daddy and at times mom
• loves to eat anything
• had her first taste of a sweet treat...she was in heaven
• having fun making new sounds (and being aware of those sounds she is making)
• still loves the library and books

Marlena and Chris's 12 month milestones

• survived having the flu and taking care of Eva...what a different world being sick with a baby
• ready at any moment for Eva to appear around the corner

Mother's Day

This past weekend I got to celebrate my first official Mother's Day.  Last Mother's Day I was having contractions on and off.  I was already 2 days past my due date just waiting for the arrival of our new baby. But, she had her own plans and didn't come until the day after Mother's Day.  Looking back, time seems to have sped by, but at the same time, it seems like forever ago that our sweet baby was born.  Eva was so sweet this Mother's Day (with the help of her daddy).  She got me a manicure and pedicure and cooked me a wonderful Mother's Day dinner.  Thank you Eva (and Chris) for a very special first Mother's Day!

Our Little Lady Turns One

Well, it has officially been a year that our little lady has been a part of our lives. Yesterday, she turned one!  Even though she has no concept of birthday I tried to make her day special.  Both Chris and I got up with her.  We put her in a "Happy Birthday to Me" shirt, sang happy birthday and ate breakfast.  Since Eva is an early riser I got to spend some time with her playing before getting ready for work.  I really enjoyed spending this time with her one-on-one and thinking back over the past year.  Then, I was off to work.  My phone buzzed all day with sweet messages wishing Miss Eva a Happy Birthday.  Chris and Eva spent the day hanging out.  They went to Book Babies at the library, in which Eva was the life of the party! She just loves people, and now that she can walk you can't keep her away!  After work, I came home and we went out for Eva's first special treat.  We had frozen yogurt...Eva was in love.  Not only does she like to eat, but now she loves sweet treats too!  Then, Grandma came by with a birthday surprise.  Overall, it was a wonderful day.  I look forward to many more special birthdays for Miss Eva.

Oh my, Miss Eva you took your first real steps during week 17!  You can do about 3 or 4 good steps before needing a break, loosing your balance, or just wanting to get to your destination quicker!

And then, came week 18!  You are officially a walker!
