Owen 7 months

Owen is now 7 months, more than 1/2 way to birthday cake! Owen is on the move, gates are up and doors are shut!  He is fast and will go anywhere he isn't supposed to

Owen's milestones
  • eating more foods (although getting some reactions)
  • army crawling like a champ
  • talking up a storm
  • napping better
  • loves to "get" his sister
  • wants to get anything and everything he can't have (cords, Sable's food, Eva's toilet)
  • starting to reach up to grab items
  • experiencing some separation anxiety (does not like Mommy to leave)
  • Watch out, he's ready for sports!

Pool Time

Summer is upon us and that means lots of pool time!  Owen just loves the water.  He is super relaxed and loves to splash.  Eva on the other hand has become quite scared of the pool.  We finally got her to sit on the first step and ride around on the raft.  I consider those quite accomplishments considering she would barely put her feet in at the end of May!

Eva turns 2

On May 12, 2016 Eva officially turned 2!  She has grown so much in the last year it is quite unbelievable!

Eva's milestones
  • talking up a storm (she loves to give you a play by play of the current events)
  • learned to jump
  • started to sing songs like twinkle twinkle little star and ABC's- it is quite adorable because she leaves out quite a few words
  • Her FAVORITE song is Shake it Off
  • climbing like a pro
  • does not like to swim
  • LOVES people, she called all the kids at her birthday friends and gave them hugs and kisses
  • loves to read, often staying up until the sun goes down and her room is too dark to see

And, just like that...

And, just like that Owen is no longer an infant.  Sure, he is still a baby, but in just the past couple days we put away the boppy pillow, the baby bathtub, and have seriously began to childproof the house!Oh, and he is no longer breastfeeding.  I am both happy and sad about this.  The happy part, Owen is sleeping SO much better and thus we are all sleeping SO much better!  The sad part, I didn't reach my goal of one year.  I am also bummed that eliminating dairy from my diet didn't work as well as I thought it might.  Once I eliminated dairy from my diet Owen did improve.  He went from waking up every 2 hours to every 3-4 hours(baby steps).  It was also a lot easier to calm him down when he got upset.  But, he also still had trace amounts of blood in his stool.  Because of this we decided to try formula only for 72 hours. The first day he took three 2 hour naps.  That night his sleep wasn't the best, but the following nights resulted in vast improvements.  He now can basically sleep through the night (only waking here and there, but settling back down super easy).  So, although he needs a special formula that costs a pricey penny it is definitely worth it.
The past 6 months have not been easy to say the least.  I have just a couple more days of pumping and it feels so surreal.  I have been pregnant or breastfeeding for just about the past three years.  I'm a little unsure what life will be like not growing or feeding a human.  And, just like that life changes!

Owen 6 months

A little overdue...

Owen turned 6 months on May 19th, I can't believe it has already been 1/2 a year! This boy has already been through so much in 1/2 a year...hematomas, RSV, dairy intolerance...just to name a few. But, he is happiest being held or given undivided attention.  And, his smile just melts your heart!

Owen's 6 month milestones
  • officially a roller
  • getting pretty good at the army crawl
  • loves to try and get all of Eva's toys
  • only likes to sleep in someone's arms
  • discovered he has a dairy intolerance (no wonder he doesn't sleep well and gets super cranky)
  • sits up like a champ
  • has the most adorable smile
