August 2016

August has come to an end with hot summer nights leaving and cool fall nights blowing in. We spent August getting into a new routine.  I did not return to work, although I am still doing bits and pieces of work here and there.

Eva's milestones
  • took another trip to the ER for splitting open her eyebrow.  One stitch later, as we were leaving, she says"that was fun!"
  • loves her some pocket shorts
Owen's milestones

Owen 9 months

Owen is 9 months!  At his doctor appointment I had the a reality check that in just 3 short months he would be 1! I find Owen interesting,  it is as if he knows he has a month birthday coming up and he hurries to start doing something new right before so that I can say he does it.  For example, he didn't start full on crawling until about 2 days before his 9 month birthday.  It was the same for getting his first tooth.  He waited until just a fews days before his 8 month birthday.  Looking forward to what the next month has in store!

9 month milestones
  • full on crawler
  • pulling himself up on everything
  • walking along walls and furniture
  • unfortunately, starting waking up in the middle of the night again
  • can say dada dada dada dada dada
  • eating lots of finger foods
  • when standing will rock back and forth to music

July 2016

What a hot month! We spent a lot of time seeing friends and attempting to spend time outdoors.  I have to admit it is a bit of a challenge when one kid wants someone to play with and the other just wants to crawl and put everything in their mouth.  I tried to plan excursions where I knew someone would be there to help or I could confine the kids into a smaller area.  The library is one of our favorite places!  It is super kid friendly and has AC!  I am ready for some cooler weather!

Eva

  • can use the potty like a big girl (most of the time)
  • spoke her first complete sentence "This is MY firetruck."
  • starting use the word "I" instead of always saying "Eva"
  • started having more meltdowns when she doesn't get what she wants ..."But, I really want it" and "I don't want to" have become a couple of her favorite phrases

Owen
  • mastering pulling himself up (loves to stand in his crib)
  • can now get into sitting position from crawling
  • making more attempts to crawl for real not just army crawl
  • officially has 2 teeth coming in
  • eating more and more
