8 weeks

Friday September 27, 2013 marked 8 weeks pregnant.  We went to our first prenatal appointment.  We got see see and hear our baby for the first time.  Our little one is due May 9, 2014.  The baby is 1.5 cm (or about 1/2 inch).  The doctor says everything looks great.  We also took this opportunity to tell our families the good news.  It is exciting sharing the little secret we have been keeping for about a month.  The rest of the world will know at the end of October.

Whirlwind

So, September 12, 2013 marked my 29th birthday.  It was quite a memorable day.  Colorado has been experiencing record rain fall with severe flooding. Prior to going to bed on the eve of my birthday we had flooding in our basement.  Chris was amazing, up until 3 cleaning up.  Needless to say the rain didn't let up and it continues to be quite the clean-up project.  On the morning of my birthday it was pouring, streets were flooded and it was crazy getting to work.  Around 10 the power at school went out.  We tried to maintain as much normalcy as possible.  Around noon, due to continued heavy rain and no power they told us to start calling families.  Using my cell I stated calling families one-by-one.  Slowly they started getting picked up.  By 1:30 all but one of my students had been picked up, so I began helping retrieve students for parents.  About 3:00 our principal let us go home, there were about 40 students left by this time.  Once home I began helping Chris maintain the flooding in the basement.  Each passing hour seemed unveil another place water was coming in.  As night fell, we took shifts.  I went to bed and woke around 2:45 to continue the process.  There is still a lot to do, but we are very blessed to be safe, there are many who have more severe circumstances.
Oh, and today marks 6 weeks for the little one, it is the size of a sweet-pea!

The Test(s)

Is it crazy to take 3 pregnancy tests because you weren't sure to trust the first one, or the second one, but the third was trustworthy?  Yep, that is what I did last weekend.  It was positive...all three times.  Chris and I are in the beginning of welcoming a new addition to our family.  Although it is early we are both anxious to enter this new chapter in our lives.  We go to our first doctor appointment at the end of the month, until then it is a little secret between the two of us.  Until then, I am also googling everything, it is hard to be experiencing things happening with your body, but not yet ready to share the news, so you just have to figure it out on your own.  I'm constantly wondering is that cramp normal, should I be feeling this way?  Looking forward to sharing with family and friends.

Documenting

I have always been a scrapbook person.  I enjoy creating scrapbooks from all our most memorable times.  Although I think I'll continue to scrapbook, I think it is easier and faster to record our memories in a blog.  So here goes nothing!
