So, September 12, 2013 marked my 29th birthday. It was quite a memorable day. Colorado has been experiencing record rain fall with severe flooding. Prior to going to bed on the eve of my birthday we had flooding in our basement. Chris was amazing, up until 3 cleaning up. Needless to say the rain didn't let up and it continues to be quite the clean-up project. On the morning of my birthday it was pouring, streets were flooded and it was crazy getting to work. Around 10 the power at school went out. We tried to maintain as much normalcy as possible. Around noon, due to continued heavy rain and no power they told us to start calling families. Using my cell I stated calling families one-by-one. Slowly they started getting picked up. By 1:30 all but one of my students had been picked up, so I began helping retrieve students for parents. About 3:00 our principal let us go home, there were about 40 students left by this time. Once home I began helping Chris maintain the flooding in the basement. Each passing hour seemed unveil another place water was coming in. As night fell, we took shifts. I went to bed and woke around 2:45 to continue the process. There is still a lot to do, but we are very blessed to be safe, there are many who have more severe circumstances.
Oh, and today marks 6 weeks for the little one, it is the size of a sweet-pea!
